Carreravirus and Other Tales of our Times

Carreravirus and Other Tales of our Times

The Geordie Kinloch Quartet was completed in 2012, but an unexpected gift of time from the Covid lockdown was the chance to write a fifth book of short stories.  Carreravirus and Other Tales of our Times is weighted towards rural Scotland, interwoven with stories set in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Paris. There is no shortage of crazy predicaments in which Geordie Kinloch gets embroiled, from an encounter with a ferret in Paris to untangling his boss from an embarrassing hotel-room indiscretion, and maybe a haunted turd in the Scottish Highlands.

The Carreravirus and Other Tales of our Times book is a worthy successor to four previous volumes of short stories, in which Geordie Kinloch experiences adventures in Burkina Faso, Belize, East Cleveland , New Zealand, Florence and elsewhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Interesting angles, settings, specialist knowledges, deft touches and turns of phrase in abundance. I was variously amused, startled and intrigued.
